Barbados Update

Update on our time in Barbados...

We moved into our little red roofed home the middle of January. Almost immediately I enjoyed a four day mixed media workshop under Canadian artist Ariel Lyons. This provided the opportunity to meet many local artists. During our time here we enjoyed many activities including daily swims in the sea, church bazaars, Friday night fish fry at Oistins, the Holetown Festival, the ice cream man, sunsets over Miami Beach, visits to various tourist attractions with our visitors...Harrison Caves, Andromeda Gardens, North Point, Bathsheba, Chalky Mount, Earthworks Pottery to name a few. We visited friends and as well we had visitors, family and friends from February through to the beginning of April. We have a variety of plants that line the perimeter of the property. The fruit from our fruit trees are enjoyed by the monkeys who seem to know exactly when to come into the garden...mango, apple, Sour Sop, Lime. We did manage to hang onto a few mango by wrapping them in pieces of black garbage bags. We were told that if the monkeys can not see the fruit, they will leave them alone. Everything grows so fast and all requires weekly tending. My herb pots on the front porch require daily watering. We have enjoyed the gardening. I love the variety of blooms...my favourite is the red hibiscus. I managed some painting but not nearly as much as I had planned. I am once again taking an on-line oil painting workshop with
Dreama Tolle Perry.

I loved the ice cream truck that came around every evening, a memory of my youth...the Dickie Dee
( I just googled the Dickie Dee Man and it was a Canadian Vending Company, founded in Winnipeg Manitoba operated from 1959 to 2002.) Ice Cream delivered on bicycle and later by truck.
